Face Makeup.

I decided to share my face makeup routine … I have talked about how I love to play up my eyes but like a house your eyes need a solid foundation to stand on (pun intended).  So, I have very fair skin with freckles — I have to make sure of a few things….

First, I need sunscreen in my products!!!!!!  Second, I have to be careful of the products — my skin likes to breathe so I need it to be natural.  Lastly, I need products that cover — discoloration like red spots are really easy to see!

That being said, I’m fairly set in the products I use, but I always love to try new things — if I find something worth trying, I will try it out.  So, this is my current face routine:

I like to start out with a clean, fresh face:

I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash as my morning face wash.  I really do not have an acne problem, Screen Shot 2014-09-01 at 12.49.08 PMbut I do have whiteheads and blackheads.  My whiteheads turn into those deep hurt pimples that are really bad, so I like to use this face wash to help me with cleaning out pores.  Interested? http://www.target.com   $8.99

Screen Shot 2014-09-01 at 1.00.44 PMIf I do have pimples, I use Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment.  It is important to only get it on affected area and to let it dry before putting on moisturizer.  Interested? http://www.ulta.com   $7.99

I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture with Sunscreen because it is lightweight, has sunscreen, Screen Shot 2014-09-01 at 12.45.05 PMand does not make your face feel oily.  Win. Win. Win.  I think moisturizer is one of the most important things that you can do to keep your skin look and feel healthy.  It is the beginning of the ‘foundation’ for your makeup.  Interested? http://www.target.com   $9.99

The clean and fresh face helps you apply your makeup on a fresh surface without anything creating problems (i.e. dry skin, pimples, etc.)

Now, it is time to prep for you makeup:

Foundation Primer is probably one of the most debated about when using makeup.  Some believe that if you use moisturizer in your daily routine then you really don’t need primer and vice versa.  However, I feel like moisturizer and primer are two very different things.

Primer is designed to help your foundation/concealer have a solid base and from rubbing off of certain places during the day.  Now, I just started adding primer to my routine a few months ago and I do notice a difference.  The number one difference is I use LESS foundation.

I use NYX Studio Perfect Primer in Clear because it works and is cheaper than other primers. I mostly focus on my T-Zone then use the rest on other parts of my face.  I only use a pea size of primer.  Interested? http://www.ulta.com   $12.99

As I mentioned before, red spots are very common on my face — my chin is the worst! To help fight this problem I use NYX Concealer in a Jar Green.  If you don’t know green concealers Screen Shot 2014-09-01 at 12.44.26 PMhelp with red spots on the face.  This concealer needs to be applied before your foundation.  Interested? http://www.ulta.com   $4.99

We now have a clean, fresh face and our prep is done.  Now, we need our makeup:

My foundation is a hard product to be 100% satisfied with … my issues include: to dark, to orange, to heavy, to light (not enough coverage), etc.  Luckily,  I have  found a foundation that is light but has coverage, a wide variety of colors, and makes me look natural.  I use Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15 which is more expensive but I Screen Shot 2014-09-01 at 1.18.03 PMcan use less product.

I have found that my skin color is actually a combination of two colors so I mix two colors together to get the perfect finish for me.  Interested? http://www.clinique.com   $27.00

Next, you need to have a good concealer to hit troubled areas — my troubled areas are my Screen Shot 2014-09-01 at 1.21.51 PMchin and around my eyes.  Because I have already addressed my chin, I need to find a concealer to help with my under eye problems.  I use Clinique All About Eyes Concealer — it has great coverage but doesn’t make you feel like your skin can’t breathe.  I also use it for a spot concealer — I really don’t have many spots but I tend to use this if I do.   Interested? http://www.clinique.com   $18.00

Screen Shot 2014-09-01 at 1.30.44 PMThe last part of my face routine is Clinique Almost Powder Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15.  One of the tips and tricks I learned is you should apply your powder after your foundation to lock it in.  I tend to sweat when I’m locked up in my bathroom and by applying powder after foundation/concealer, it keeps in in place.  This is a light weight powder that helps give the natural look.  Interested? http://www.clinique.com   $27.00

I used to use store bought foundation, powder, and concealer — usually Neutrogena.  I switched over to Clinique when they had specials where you buy $25 worth and get a gift (this gift was a full four eyeshadow, a full mascara, and a full eyeliner.  So, I decide to give it a try.  I fell in love with their face products.

The thing I like best is the fact that they have a foundation finder that helps you pick the best type of foundation for you.  It bases it off of your type of skin (Dry, Oil, or Combination) and your two most important desires in a foundation (coverage, finish, type, etc).

This is my face makeup routine.  I hope you enjoyed it.  Let me know your favorite face products and/or your face routine.
